The removal of wisdom teeth and other in-office procedures can be performed under local anesthesia, nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia, or intravenous sedation/ general anesthesia.
Dr. Geldzahler has the training, license and experience to provide various types of anesthesia to make procedures more comfortable. These services are provided in an environment of optimum safety, utilizing modern monitoring equipment and staff experienced in administration of all phases of anesthesia.
Dr. Geldzahler completed a separate residency program in Anesthesiology at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. This training, coupled with the additional anesthesia training, which is part of an oral and maxillofacial surgery program’s curriculum, has given him nearly four times the anesthesiology training of an average oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Additionally, he is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and has been certified since 1983.
His office has had a formal Anesthesia Office Evaluation set forth by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the State of New Jersey. The office meets or exceeds all the standards.
If you are scheduled to have a procedure performed under intravenous sedation, please note that you must not eat or drink for six hours prior to the visit, and you must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will drive you home.
